2024 World Ocean Day Beach Clean Up

The ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, and being the largest ecosystem on our planet, it functions as a life support system for all of its inhabitants. And so we celebrate June 8th globally as World Ocean Day. With the help and support of Sarasota County Parks & Recreation and Salt Life, this family-friendly free community event will be one for the books! 

We are asking attendees to please arrive at 7:45 am at Siesta Key for refreshments. We are beginning at 8:00 am and stopping at 9:30 am to avoid the heat. Sarasota County Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources will be providing bags, gloves, and pickers, as well as a staff member to educate and guide us.

Volunteers should bring their own reusable water bottle, high-SPF Sunscreen, and insect repellent, and we suggest wearing a hat and closed-toe shoes for safety. All volunteers must also sign a waiver before starting.
